Philip Rosedale resigning his role as CEO of Linden Lab?
March 14, 2008 — Lucky FigtreeHey everyone, I’ve recently received some sad news. Apparently Philip Rosedale, the CEO of Linden Lab is stepping down from his role as the CEO. You can read the full story here.
According to this article, Philip is stepping down due to all the tasks and job a CEO of a company as large as Linden Lab has become, and will become - it wasn’t the job that he wanted to be doing. After talking to Blue for a short minute after I read the article, he assured me that Philip will not be leaving Linden Lab, and they’re already trying to find someone to replace him. With the recent leave of Cory Linden from the team, and now step-down of Philip it’s even harder to tell you what the future for Second Life looks like.
I’m leaving this article up to discussion with you guys, please read the article I’ve posted and discuss your opinions in the comment section!!

Philip hasn’t resigned. He’s “stepped up” to chairman of the board - which is actually a more powerful position than CEO (he gets to fire the CEO from there. Yay.)
It also distances him from direct management and lets him spend more time doing what he’s actually good at.

I agree, sorry for the mistakes - feel free to fix them, Katharine
I wrote the article in a hurry before my lesson.

What they should be doing is replacing their development team, not the CEO.

Their development team is very good, on the MG though, the TG development team is basically Blue Linden and the V-Team.
