Havok™ 4 Regions get a Release Date.
March 29, 2008 — Chilko TardisAs I’m sure you know, Linden Lab has been rolling out the new simulator, based on Havok4, and many private island owners in the SL™ world have had this new code deployed onto their islands due to its increased resiliency toward crashes, as well as more realistic object physics. So, finally, Linden Lab has released a schedule for deploying the new regions to the entire grid. So, according to The Official Linden Blog:
- Monday March 31: Evaluate how the Early Adopter deploy of RC3 went over the weekend.
- If all goes well over the weekend with RC3 on the Second Life Early Adopter regions, then:
- Monday March 31: Deploy the new simulator to 1500-2000 regions
- Tuesday April 1: Deploy the new simulator to the rest of the regions that make up the Second Life world.
I’m sure many avatars will be happy that their regions will be less crash-able, I’d like your comments on this, is it too early? Did Linden Lab wait too long? Do you think it’s still not ready?
